Transforming Lives Across Borders

Team Spotlight: Bless Back Worldwide Trip Recap

This past week, we had a team in the DR from Bless Back Worldwide. These amazing partners of MOHI's came with two doctors, several nurses, and others who helped to run clinics in four different villages.

The team saw over 150 patients with a variety of issues ranging from minor cuts to infections, diabetes, and high blood pressure. They were not only able to bring medicine but also showed the love of Jesus to those who often feel forgotten.

Here are two quotes from team members who were here this past week:

"It was sweet to see how the partnership of BBW and MOHI remains a positive impact for the kingdom in communities of God's most fragile children." – Dr. Carmen Teague

"In a world that is complex, fraught with dangers and evil, it was so good to see God's hand still working in the world. Between the team’s beautifully orchestrated work and their love in helping those less fortunate, God's presence was so clear." – Kimber Zappia

The verse James 1:2-4 reminds us of the kind of religion God considers pure and faultless: "to look after widows and orphans in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." This week’s work was a beautiful example of living out this truth.

Luperón Mission House Update

We have the amazing opportunity to purchase the mission house that we have been renting. The landlord has been so gracious and wonderful to work with us on this purchase. After two years of working in the Dominican Republic, this purchase will establish MOHI and our partners as having a permanent footprint here.

As part of this new expansion, we will need to raise about $625,000 for the purchase, closing costs, and to catch up on some maintenance - like updating the plumbing.

The most immediate need is to raise $80,000 by April 1 for the down payment and closing costs. Would you prayerfully consider making a donation (click the picture) and/or joining us on a trip this summer to assist with the construction? We will need teams this summer and fall who can help with construction, plumbing, electrical work, and more. If you have these skills or know someone who does, we’d love to have you join us.

Haiti Updates

In Haiti, we continue to see God’s hand at work in our schools, churches, and community programs:

  • Education: We gave out special certificates to children who went above and beyond, recognizing their achievements. Additionally, we celebrated the graduating class who will be finishing Filo (13th grade) later this year.

  • Church Growth: This past week, eight new people visited the church in Grand Goave. Some families have left gang-controlled areas and are seeking Christian community, finding a home with us.

  • Clinic: The clinic has been very busy, especially with patients experiencing colds and coughs due to the dust from a lack of rain.

  • Business Academy: The ‘Learn 2 Advance’ business academy, in partnership with Bless Back Worldwide, is in its second week. Twelve ladies are enrolled and learning how to expand their businesses, helping their families thrive despite difficult economic conditions.

  • Parent-Teacher Conference: We held a parent-teacher conference to distribute report cards and update parents on school happenings.

Personal Testimony: Breaking Barriers

It was wonderful to have two young girls from the DR join our team as translators.

One of the most impactful stories came from Amie, who shared how she grew up hearing that Haitians were bad and feeling a dislike for them because of the tension between the two countries. She shared how going into the refugee villages and working with the Haitians allowed her to see and experience them as people. We are so excited to see cultural barriers coming down through this ministry.

Call to Action: Mission Trips

We would love to have you join us for a mission trip this year! Come and experience what so many others have. Be the hands and feet of Jesus and witness what it’s like to care for the least.

We have teams already scheduled in June, July, October, November, and next January. If you’d like to explore joining one of those trips, or if you’d like to organize a group of friends, your business, or your church to come and serve, we would love to have you. Just reach out by email to: renee@mohintl.org

There are opportunities for everyone:

  • Construction: Help with the renovations for the mission house in Luperón.

  • Medical Professionals: Expand our team of doctors and nurses.

  • Business People: Teach and train small business owners through our business academy.

Sue C., who came on a past team, shared this: “Before my trip, I didn’t think I had much to offer. I’m not a carpenter, teacher, or doctor. But one day, I was asked to help lead a group of children in a game. At first, I felt out of place. Then, I noticed how the kids’ faces lit up when I encouraged them or simply acknowledged them. It hit me—these kids just needed someone to show them they mattered. And by being there, I could do that. It’s a reminder that your presence alone can be transformative.”

Your Support Matters

Your support is making an enormous difference in the work we are doing! Hundreds of children and their families are being cared for because of YOU. Thank you for partnering with us to make this impact possible.
