Progress and Hope

As I reflect on the past week at Mission of Hope International, I am continually reminded of God’s faithfulness and provision. It is such a privilege to partner with each of you in this important work. In the midst of challenges, we are seeing breakthroughs and blessings that are bringing hope to those we serve.
The Bible encourages us in Galatians 6:9, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." This promise keeps us going as we continue serving our communities in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and beyond. Though the work is often demanding, God’s grace sustains us, and we’re seeing the fruits of our labor.
In the Dominican Republic:
The Bless Back Business Academy is thriving, with lots of interaction and engagement from the students. Relationships solidify as participants work together, building more substantial businesses and a more profound sense of community. Watching these entrepreneurs grow and support one another in their journeys is inspiring.
Billy and Mayo made another trip to Puerto Plata with little Isaiah, who is battling another bacterial infection that needs to be treated before he can have his long-awaited surgery. Please continue praying for him—he’s been through so much already, and we trust God to bring him healing.
On a brighter note, Mayo made more progress on the water project in La Grúa, and it’s a joy to see our friends finding well water right in their community. This access to clean water is a blessing and a constant reminder of God’s provision in even the simplest things.
Nurse Marlouse continues to be a solid and steady presence, encouraging those dealing with chronic illness in La Grúa, Baraguana, Cambiaso, and Playa Cambiaso. Her compassion and strength make such a difference, and I’m reminded of Isaiah 40:31: "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength."
Marlouse, Mèt Ben, and Lucy are taking great care of the babies and preschoolers in the START NOW program!
In Haiti:
Excitement is in the air as we prepare for schools to reopen this week. After much uncertainty, we are praying that everything will go smoothly as we welcome our students back. Please join us in covering the reopening in prayer, asking for protection and provision for every child and staff member.
In our medical clinic, Dr. Winnie Pierre has stepped up beautifully to take over for Dr. Cadet, who has transitioned to Canada. Dr. Winnie brings excellent training and a deep sense of compassion for her patients. We are blessed to have her caring for our community.
Meanwhile, our dental clinic remains a hub of activity, with Dr. Mabou and Dr. Derival working tirelessly to meet the needs of our students and neighbors. We are deeply grateful to our friends at Bless Back Worldwide for continuing to support this vital resource.
Behind the scenes, our incredible support staff are working hard to keep things running smoothly. They’re feeding the babies and students, keeping the premises clean, and maintaining the buildings. Their work is essential, and I’m so grateful for their dedication—it’s a beautiful reminder of 1 Corinthians 12:12: "The body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body." The leaves in the picture are from the Moringa - an incredible source of a wide range of nutrients (protein, calcium, a wide range of vitamins...).
We continue to welcome babies from Port-au-Prince, many requiring special care. Though their needs are significant, God continues to provide, and it’s a blessing to be able to care for these precious little ones.
In the United States:
This week, we sent nine "mega-boxes" of food from Against Global Hunger to Haiti. The shipment is on its way, and we’re praying for its safe arrival. This food is critical for the children and families we serve, and I’m so thankful for every resource God sends our way.
As we look ahead, I remain confident that God is with us, guiding our efforts and providing exactly what we need. Your prayers and support mean the world to us and make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve. Please keep Isaiah, our students, and the people of La Grúa in your prayers, and know that together, we are sowing seeds that will bear fruit for generations to come.
