Dear Friends of Mission of Hope International,
Giving Tuesday is just TWO DAYS AWAY! Continue the attitude of gratitude this Tuesday. In a world where millions struggle with basic needs, your generosity can be a lifeline for children and families at MOHI. Please remember MOHI's mission to our friends in Haiti and the Dominican Republic and also share the mission with your friends. Together, let's make this Giving Tuesday a day of impact for them!
Healthcare: A Critical Lifeline
Healthcare is more than a service—it's a fundamental human right. In communities like ours, where resources are scarce, a single medical intervention can mean the difference between life and death. Did you know that in Haiti, there are only 0.4 physicians per 1,000 people, compared to 2.6 in the United States? Each medical consultation, each dose of medicine, each moment of care we provide is crucial.
Kettelie's story illustrates this perfectly. "I'm Kettelie, I live in Grand-Goave. I live with my husband, my child. I'm not working, I came to the hospital for my daughter's fever. Her name is Djoussa. The doctor consulted her and gave her medicine. I thank you for the way you help the Grand-Goave community." This is the real impact of your support—hope, healing, and dignity.
Nourishing Bodies and Minds
One of our most critical programs is feeding our students. Those high school students receiving lunch? They're not just getting a meal—they're receiving the fuel to learn, grow, and break cycles of poverty. In communities where food insecurity is a daily challenge, these meals are more than nutrition. They're a promise of potential, a commitment to education, and a beacon of hope.
Nurturing Our Youngest: The Critical First Five Years
The babies in our START NOW programs represent our commitment to breaking cycles of poverty through early intervention. Did you know that proper nutrition in the first 1,000 days of life can literally shape a child's entire future? Children who receive adequate nutrition in their first five years are 33% more likely to escape poverty as adults. Conversely, malnutrition in these early years can lead to stunted growth, reduced cognitive development, and decreased earning potential—by some estimates, up to 26% less income over their lifetime.
We're passionate about feeding babies in communities where families struggle to provide adequate nutrition. Through our feeding programs, we're not just filling hungry bellies—we're building brains, strengthening immune systems, and laying foundations for lifelong success. Every baby we feed today is a future leader, innovator, or changemaker in their community.
One of the communities where we feed babies is currently experiencing more distress and fear, due to immigration raids. We have decided to provide food kits for these families, as they consider it dangerous to gather publicly. Thank you to our baby sponsors for your care and compassion for these little ones!
Bringing Light and Care to Our Communities
Our teams continue to work tirelessly. Dr. Mabou does a great job running the dental clinic. She loves caring for our students and the community at large.
Boss Papy recently installed a new breaker in our dental clinic, ensuring we can continue providing critical healthcare services.
Nurse Marlouse has been working with community members in Cambiaso, La Grúa, and Baraguana.
Aquilina, our business coach for the Bless Back Business Academy in Luperón, works with different business owners in Luperón. Here she is with a father and son team, Aqueline and Alexander, who own and operate a small grocery store downtown.
Giving Tuesday: Your Chance to Make a Difference
This December 3rd, we invite you to be part of something extraordinary. Giving Tuesday is more than a day of donations—it's a global movement of generosity. Last year, 34 million adults in the U.S. raised nearly $3.1 billion for causes they care about. This year, we're counting on you to help us continue our mission of feeding, empowering, and inspiring children in La Grúa and beyond.
Your donation can provide:
Critical healthcare interventions
Nutritious meals for students
Educational support
Community development resources
Those who give on Giving Tuesday will receive an exclusive update directly from the communities we serve – a unique window into the impact of your generosity.
Growing Hope and Community
In Luperón, Louis has been working in our garden, installing cords to support our tomato plants – a beautiful metaphor for our work. Our tomato plants bear fruit, and our pepper plants bloom – just like the potential we see in every child and community member we serve.

Whether you're planning to make a financial gift this Tuesday, preparing to join us in Luperón this January, attending the Hope Squad Vision 2025 Dinner Banquet, or all three – your generosity creates ripples of transformation that touch countless lives. Every meal served, every medical treatment provided, every child educated, and every life transformed begins with people like you choosing to act on your compassion.
Your willingness to step forward, to reach out, to make a difference – it matters more than you know. You are the hands and feet of Jesus, making this mission possible.
With deep gratitude and hope,
Renée
