Today's update is from Renée

Happy Easter and Resurrection Sunday, Friends!

As we reflect on the power of Easter, we’re reminded of the hope we have in Jesus—a hope that sustains us, strengthens our work, and renews the lives of the children and families we serve every day.

In Haiti, Easter is usually a time of joyful gathering, celebration, and shared meals. It’s a tradition for families to eat salted fish, root vegetables, plantains, and beets—foods that have long been part of their Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday traditions.

Sadly, for many, access to these meals is still out of reach. Protein-rich foods like fish and meat remain unaffordable for countless families. But even in these challenges, God is making a way.

Because of your ongoing support, MOHI is working daily to ensure that children and families in Haiti and the Dominican Republic are fed, cared for, and reminded that they are not forgotten.

Updates from the Dominican Republic: Sustainability in Action

This past week, we took a big step toward sustainability by completing construction on a new chicken coop! We’ll soon be getting started with chickens, providing fresh eggs to use in our Start Now and Hope Squad feeding programs. These eggs will offer critical nutrition to children and help supplement meals for teams and visitors as well.

In addition to the chicken coop, our harvest has been abundant! Sweet potatoes and cassava are coming in strong, and our team has been working hard in the fields to gather what God has provided. “The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands.” (Deuteronomy 28:12)

Marlouse, our community health promoter, continues to visit families weekly—providing checkups for babies, toddlers, and others with chronic health needs. These visits are making a tangible impact in communities that lack access to consistent healthcare.

We love seeing Aquilina, Willy, and Madame Willy step in to assist with food service in our programs.

Watching the children in La Grua and Baraguana receive their meals each day is a joyful reminder of why we do this work.

I love hearing the students at the Bless Back Business Academy share their wins!

Updates from Haiti: Steadfast and Strong

Students in Haiti recently finished their end-of-term exams and are now entering the final stretch of the academic year. We are so proud of their resilience and commitment to learning, even in difficult times.

Our medical clinic remains busy, especially as more families continue to flee Port-au-Prince due to violence and instability. Many are arriving in Grand-Goâve with young children who are malnourished and in need of urgent care. Thanks to your support, our team is providing food, clean water, and critical medical attention.

Meanwhile, we’re preparing for some changes in Haiti’s government education system that may require costly updates, including re-registration of schools, background checks for teachers, additional inspections, and notarized documents. We don’t yet know the full financial impact, but it will likely be in the tens of thousands of dollars. We’re committed to staying ahead of these changes, and with your help, we will continue to provide our students with an excellent education.

Looking Ahead: A Celebration and a Challenge

🎉Our 25-Year Anniversary Celebration is just around the corner—Saturday, April 26 from 6–8 PM at Chair City Church in Gardner, MA! We already have over 100 people registered, and we’d love to see you there.

Expect a beautiful night of music, stories, special guests, and of course—a delicious Haitian-style meal. Click here to RSVP today.

We’re also working hard to raise the final $20,000 needed for the down payment on the Mission House property in the Dominican Republic. We had hoped to raise all $80,000 by the end of March, and we are so close! Click on the picture of the house to help us reach the finish line. Thank you!

As we’ve expanded our efforts across Haiti and the DR—welcoming refugees, growing feeding programs, and adapting to government changes—we estimate we’ll need an additional $100,000 this quarter to stay on target. That includes support for:

  • School system recertifications in Haiti

  • Medical and feeding expansions for refugee families

  • Completing the DR house purchase

We believe God will provide, and we’re inviting you to be part of the miracle.

Thank You for Walking With Us

You are part of a movement of hope—one that grows gardens, gathers harvests, builds chicken coops, educates children, and meets the deepest needs of families in crisis. We see the resurrection story at work every day in the lives of those we serve, and we couldn’t do it without you. Thank you for praying, giving, sponsoring, and caring.
