From Roots to Radiance

Growth is a journey—one that starts with deep roots and flourishes into something radiant. Whether it’s the steady development of local businesses, the transformation of young minds through education, or the deepening of faith in a personal walk with Christ, we see this theme unfolding in so many ways at MOHI. This past week, we witnessed growth in individuals, communities, and ministries, all bearing fruit that will continue to impact lives for years to come.

A Week of Impact: Business Growth, Baptism, and Blessings

Last week, we had the joy of welcoming Ben, Bri, Jess, Luke, Mackenzie, and Sue to Luperón, Dominican Republic. Taran led the team into a time filled with purpose, progress, and life-changing moments.

The major goals for the week included mapping out local businesses...

...launching the Hope Squad afterschool feeding and mentorship program...

...and creating content to share with our supporters.

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." (Proverbs 16:3)

Mapping out businesses in Luperón was an exciting and insightful experience, especially as we focused on those owned by Bless Back Business Academy students. Seeing how these entrepreneurs have grown in confidence and capability was genuinely inspiring.

Meanwhile, the Hope Squad officially launched, providing mentorship and daily meals to children after school. This program is already making an impact, offering support and encouragement to young students who need it most.

The team helped with the START NOW Early Childhood Intervention program, too.

One of the most powerful moments of the week happened late Friday night. Luke made the life-changing decision to fully follow Jesus and asked to be baptized. At 10 o’clock that night, we all gathered at the mission house to celebrate this beautiful step in his faith journey. Witnessing his baptism was an unforgettable moment of joy and encouragement for us all!

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Bless Back Business Academy Graduation

On Friday, we had the privilege of welcoming Ron, the creator of the Bless Back Business Academy, to Luperón. That evening, the BBBA students presented their final business projects—demonstrating not only what they had learned but also their determination and ambition. Tonight, we hosted a graduation ceremony and reception for our first class of business graduates. Their hard work, perseverance, and commitment were evident in their glowing faces. We are incredibly proud of each one and look forward to seeing how they apply their skills to impact their families and communities positively.

Bless Back Worldwide: 15 Years of Partnership

Yesterday, we welcomed Team Fifteen from Bless Back Worldwide—an organization that was born from a medical response team following the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.

Over the past fifteen years, this partnership has provided medical care and support to thousands. One of the most significant outcomes has been establishing a permanent primary care facility at MOHI in Grand-Goâve, Haiti. This clinic is known for its exceptional care and draws patients from near and far. We are deeply grateful for this ongoing partnership and the incredible impact it continues to have.

The Power of Education in Haiti

Education is a precious gift in Haiti. In a country where opportunities are scarce, students take school seriously and consider it an honor to attend. At MOHI, our students achieve remarkable success: year after year, 100% of our high school seniors pass their national exams—an achievement that is virtually unheard of. Our graduates gain the confidence to stand tall and express themselves, even among students from elite families and professors.

Education at MOHI doesn’t just stop at graduation. About 70% of our high school graduates continue their education, and many return to teach at MOHI, shaping the next generation. Our graduates are making a difference across Haiti and beyond, securing jobs and uplifting their communities. We are so proud of the leaders that are emerging through our schools!

"Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance." (Proverbs 1:5)

The Foundation of MOHI: The Church

At the heart of MOHI is the church. Our churches are foundational to everything we do, providing spiritual guidance, community, and unwavering support. In Haiti, we are blessed with a dedicated pastoral staff and incredible Jesus followers who serve with passion and faith. In the Dominican Republic we are blessed to come along side pastors who have already established churches in the communities. This morning, Bless Back's "Team 15" visited the Haitian Baptist Church of Luperón in their new location. Many of you donated to this construction. Thank you!

Blessings from the Garden

The gardens at our mission base in the Dominican Republic are flourishing! They are now providing fresh food for both the children and visitors. It is such a blessing to see these gardens not only producing food but also demonstrating sustainability and care for God's creation.

As we reflect on all that has happened this past week, we are filled with gratitude. Thank you for your continued prayers, encouragement, and support. Your partnership allows us to keep making a difference, one life at a time!
