Celebrating Generosity and Kindness

After a long travel day, Lex and I arrived back in the Dominican Republic in the early hours of Friday morning. It’s wonderful to be back, especially after I missed our last team and the crusade. We’re ready to jump right in with this new season of work and fellowship.
We welcomed Team G3 to our mission base on Saturday!
Their fearless leader, Chel, worked hard to prepare everyone, so it’s heartbreaking that she couldn’t join us due to illness. Please keep Chel in your prayers for a speedy recovery. Despite her absence, she assembled a fantastic team with members from Missouri, Texas, Maine, Massachusetts, and Illinois.
We’re looking forward to a meaningful week together as we serve in local villages, host a dinner to honor local pastors, and experience all the blessings of MOHI in the DR—including some delicious, tree-ripened avocados straight from the mission house orchard!
The team will also work with our Community Health Promoter, Marlouse, as she checks on patients and babies.
Team G3 started their day today in the rain - which is a welcome change of climate for a Sunday. After devotions and breakfast, they visited the Haitian Baptist Church of Luperón, as well as the Assembleas de Dios (La Paloma). Now they are going through all the supplies they brought, preparing for their day in the village tomorrow.
The water project in La Grúa has truly brought joy and relief to the community, where smiles abound at the water house. Clean water is now just a short walk away, thanks to the generous contributions of so many of you. Thank you for supporting this life-giving project!
As we approach the holiday season, there’s one day that has become a true celebration of generosity and kindness: Giving Tuesday. Following Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which often focus on deals and consumerism, Giving Tuesday is a global movement that invites people everywhere to shift their focus to giving back. This year, we’re thrilled to invite you to be part of this special day with Mission of Hope International (MOHI) and help us plant seeds of hope and transformation in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and beyond.
What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday began in 2012 as a simple idea: a day encouraging people to do good. It was established to help us all carry forward the gratitude from Thanksgiving and focus on the true spirit of the holiday season—generosity. Since then, it’s become a global movement, with millions participating annually in the United States alone. Last year, 34 million adults in the U.S. took action, collectively raising close to $3.1 billion to support charities and causes dear to their hearts—over $1 billion of which came from online giving alone!
Whether through donations, volunteering, or helping spread the word, Giving Tuesday offers everyone the chance to make an impact and inspire others to give, too. It’s become almost a social norm to give on this day, with platforms like Facebook even offering profile frames to highlight participation.
Why Your Support on Giving Tuesday Matters to MOHI
This Giving Tuesday, we want to make it easy and exciting for our partners to join us in making a difference. Your support on this day can directly impact critical programs that transform lives through education, healthcare, clean water, and community development in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Giving Tuesday is a unique opportunity to join hands with people worldwide, amplifying the impact of every donation made.
At MOHI, we’ll be tracking donations made online on Giving Tuesday, as well as any checks received by mail marked “Giving Tuesday.” Each gift will be a step toward meeting our mission goals for 2025 and beyond, providing much-needed resources and hope to the communities we serve.
Special Thanks to Our Giving Tuesday Partners
We're planning something special as a token of our gratitude for those who choose to give on this meaningful day. Those who donate on Giving Tuesday will receive exclusive communication from the people we serve in Haiti and the Dominican Republic—a unique opportunity to see firsthand how your generosity brings joy, hope, and transformation. Stay tuned for more details!

Giving Tuesday
Despite our friends' numerous hardships, there is still hope in Haiti. School is going well, with students and teachers faithfully showing up daily. Amid severe challenges, God’s presence is palpable, offering comfort and hope, especially through your prayers and support.
Knowing that the students receive a hearty meal each day is an enormous relief for their families. In a time when jobs are scarce and safe transportation to Port-au-Prince (where most commerce originates) is nearly impossible, this consistent meal lessens the burden many parents face.
Our friends at World-Wide Lighthouse Missions continue to support us by shipping essential food and supplies to Haiti. This particular shipment endured a long delay in a Port-au-Prince warehouse and required significant funds to retrieve, but we are so grateful to have it in hand finally.
These resources mean even more for our littlest ones in the START NOW program. Good nutrition, especially protein, is vital to their physical and intellectual growth, and we’re blessed to offer them a strong start.
Our partnership with Bless Back Worldwide is also a gift, as they carry a significant financial load for the medical and dental clinics. Thinking back to when we first connected, it’s incredible to see how far these clinics have come. Today, they shine brightly within our community, providing essential care not only to students and staff but to anyone in need.
People come to MOHI seeking help, be it for their children’s education, food in times of need, or healthcare. And, through these tangible needs, they find more than a resource; they find a Christ-centered community where they are welcomed, loved, and supported—not out of obligation, but because they see Jesus in us. Thank you for being such an integral part of making this possible.
