This week has been full of special moments as we continue the work in both Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Pastor Lex’s time in Haiti was especially focused on the school. Every day, he worked closely with administrators, teachers, parents, and students to ensure everything was running smoothly and the children were thriving in their learning environment.
One of the biggest blessings is seeing the preschoolers. They bring so much joy to all of us. I am incredibly grateful for the teachers in this program. Their nurturing hearts and dedication make such a difference in these little ones' lives.
I love watching the students pour their energy into their classwork. Their hard work and determination are inspiring.
Another wonderful sight this week has been the children enjoying their meals. During these times of food scarcity, it’s an absolute blessing to witness them eating hearty, nutritious meals. We are so thankful for this provision.
And let me tell you, the little ones in our START NOW program sure can eat! They never cease to amaze me with their big appetites!
Our support staff deserves so much credit for keeping the children fed and the buildings well-maintained. Their commitment to serving our students is a huge part of what makes our school run so smoothly.
Over at the clinic, Dr. Winnie is doing a fantastic job, working alongside Dr. Evens and the rest of our healthcare professionals. We are so blessed to have such a dedicated team providing excellent care.
And, of course, we can't forget our dental team! Dr. Mabou and Dr. Derival are keeping those smiles bright and healthy.
Midweek, Pastor Lex made his way back to the Dominican Republic.
The staff there was buzzing with excitement as we prepared for the arrival of our next team from Massachusetts. They went above and beyond, cleaning everything in anticipation.
While in the DR, Pastor Lex and Marlouse went over the grocery list I sent, which led to a fun, impromptu English lesson for Marlouse.
Micha also got in on the action, proudly writing out the menu on the whiteboard. She loves helping in any way she can!
We were so excited to welcome Marie, Lisa, and Olga this week. They jumped right into work, and we can’t wait for the rest of the team to join soon!
We also have some wonderful news to share about little Isaac, our three-year-old friend who had three hernias. He was finally accepted for surgery, and all three hernias have been successfully repaired! He is now resting at home, and we are praising God for answered prayers and Isaac's full recovery.
Early next week, Lisa, who is a nurse practitioner, will visit Isaac along with Nurse Marlouse to check his incisions and change his bandages.
In the village of La Grúa, our friends have been enjoying clean water for a week now. This is such a huge step in improving their health and quality of life. Seeing their smiling faces fills my heart with joy.
I am especially glad they no longer have to drink the river water, as it was unsafe, with both children playing in it and animals wading through, drinking and relieving themselves.
We are also gearing up for the "Christ the Hope of Life" evangelistic crusade. Will you join us in prayer this week as we prepare for this important event? Funds are still needed to reach our budgeted costs for this exciting event. Please click here to make a donation specifically for the crusade. Thank you.
This week, I’ve been reflecting on 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." This verse is deeply personal to me. I realize it’s not for my neighbor, the government, or any particular group of people—it’s for me. I must humble myself, lay down my plans, dreams, and desires, and pray from that place of surrender. I have nothing to offer God, yet He invites me to come. I don’t have the answers, but HE does. I know that if I humble myself under His mighty hand, He will lift me up. Will you join me this week in praying from a place of humility and faith, trusting in God’s goodness?
Thank you so much for your prayers, friendship, support, and encouragement. Together, we are making a difference, and we give God all the glory for His goodness in this work.
